Les’ public accounting career spans nine years with Arthur Young and Company (now Ernst and Young) in both the audit and tax departments of that firm. Industries serviced by Les consisted of magazine publishing, radio and TV broadcasting, music publishing and recording companies, manufacturing, commodity trading, oil and gas, financial services, among others.
In May 1975, Les decided to go into practice for himself and formed Leslie Sufrin and Company, P.C. (LS&Co). During the past 30+ years, the firm developed into the premier boutique accounting, audit, tax and consulting firm specializing in servicing publishing, media, information and communication businesses in the U.S. Capitalizing on its extensive industry expertise, LS&Co also built a significant practice in servicing private equity groups and their portfolio companies along with financial institutions active in this area. For these clients, the firm is deeply involved in all phases of merger and acquisition activity from due diligence to post-acquisition integration and performs audit, tax and consulting work on an on-going basis for the acquired portfolio companies.
In addition to the media and information practice, the firm developed a strong and growing presence servicing companies in the financial services, manufacturing, distribution, international services and other general industry segments.
In May, 2005, LS&Co merged its accounting practice into Weiser LLP. Les, along with his talented management team continues to develop and expand the publishing, media, information and communications practice which has been developed over the last 30+ years.
Les has lectured extensively at various publishing, media, information and communication conferences and seminars and has developed and conducted in-house programs for private equity groups and financial institutions on all phases of the merger and acquisition process.
He is a member of the NY State Society of CPAs, AICPA and has been a past chairman of the publishing and printing committee of the NY State Society of CPAs.
